Second Copy 2000 Reviewer's Comments

As the name implies, this software copies files and that's all it does. Second Copy 2000 by Centered Systems isn't true backup software because it doesn't offer a restore function. We couldn't see a unique purpose for this program. Microsoft Windows and other operating systems typically come with excellent file copy utilities.

Feature Set:  

Second Copy 2000 is missing nearly all the features backup software typically offers. For example, you cannot make a full system backup (including the operating system, drivers, etc). Second Copy doesn't offer data compression; it simply makes an exact duplicate. No password protection is available, and you can't backup emails, address books, Internet Favorites, or your registry.

Ease of Use:  

When you open Second Copy 2000 the only choice available is to create a new project. This allows you to specify what to copy and where to copy it. You can also schedule the copy. Second Copy 2000 would be easier to use if the program offered sequential steps; as you have to hunt for the few options that are available.

Backup/Restore:  

The restore function is not available, as this software makes a full working copy of your original data in a different location. All the program promises to do is copy files, and Second Copy does this successfully. Second Copy 2000 doesn't do a true backup or restore, and so received a 1 in this category.

Help/Documentation:  

Second Copy help files are excellent. The program has a glossary and a search tool so you can find what you want quickly.

Summary:  

Because Centered System's Second Copy 2000 offers no unique features or tools, we don't recommend it as backup software.
