Migo PC Backup Reviewer's Comments

One of few programs that will do a full image backup, Migo PC Backup by Migo Software is solid backup software with a wide range of features. You can even backup all your Windows Operating System settings and preferences. This option saves you time after restoring.

Feature Set:  

Migo PC Backup has a simple, one-click data backup and a one-click restore button. Click this, choose where you want the backup stored, then PC Backup backs up the entire system to that location. If you have more than one hard drive on your computer this tool will copy these too; you can't specify which hard drives with the one-click feature. (You'll want to be aware of the size of the hard drive so that you can store backups in a large enough location.) You may also create a bootable system recovery disk.

Migo PC Backup cannot backup email, address books or Internet Favorites without backing up the entire computer system. Also, Migo PC Backup does not perform drive spanning or encrypt backup files.

Ease of Use:  

We had no problems installing or setting up Migo PC Backup. The one-click option to backup and restore is handy; an excellent tool if you backup and restore your entire computer system frequently. Novices will find the one-click simplicity reassuring.

The rest of the program isn't as easy to use. Migo PC Backup has three tabs that allow you to backup, restore, and compare your data, but the choices were confusing and it's fairly easy to get lost. The program doesn't show you where to go next. For example, under the backup tab the program groups all the backup options together so finding them is simple-but where do you begin?

The look and feel of Migo PC Backup is similar to Zip Backup to CD and GRBackPro; even the screenshots are nearly identical. To make backing up easy these programs could break tasks into ordered steps as NTI Backup NOW! or PowerBackup do.

Backup/Restore:  

Migo PC Backup does an excellent job backing up and restoring data and you have a variety of backup options.

Help/Documentation:  

Migo PC Backup provides convenient help; with the push of a button you can turn your cursor into a question mark that allows you to click on any feature to view a short description.

Migo Software's Migo PC Backup has help document files complete with an index and search engine. Although the help files were useful, we felt Migo PC Backup lacked tutorials to walk users through the entire backup process.

Summary:  

Overall, Migo PC Backup is a good data backup program.
